Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the new THAICHURCHES.ORG website by the eSTAR Foundation!
You'll notice a significant shift in our focus from the prior version. We are no longer attempting to count "Christians," a figure we believe is truly known only to God. Frankly, the methods for doing so are plagued by inconsistencies, making the effort unreliable.
Our new mission is to track what we can see: the real-world presence of the Gospel. We measure the location of churches, how many people attend weekly, and the number of villages still waiting for a church.
This change was sparked by a startling discovery I had in 2016. I was reading Luke 4:43, where Jesus states His purpose: "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well for I was sent for this purpose." This verse makes it clear Jesus' goal for His disciples was to reach every town and village.
When I checked at that time how well Thailand was fulfilling Jesus' mission, I was shocked. After 200 years of the Gospel's presence in Thailand, 95% of villages still had no Gospel presence. The Gospel had spread to only 5% of the villages in Thailand.
Then the COVID-19 pandemic helped me understand the problem even more. It showed me that we were treating the Gospel like a virus; we were containing it, not spreading it.
A new believer's initial faith is like a powerful "infection" at its most potent stage. However, instead of encouraging them to "spread" it, the church often "quarantines" them, prioritizing internal learning over external sharing. By "masking" new believers with rules about waiting until they "know more," we neutralize their passion right when they are most excited to share, and as a result, the Gospel's spread is stopped.
No more. We now understand we must disciple new believers right where they are. We must empower them to take off their "masks" and openly share the Good News in their own towns and villages, explaining why they believe in Jesus. They can immediately begin discipling others with what they already know. When we do this, the Gospel will spread rapidly.
This website exists to encourage this change: to remove our "masks," release the Gospel from "quarantine," and set it free in every soi, village, town, and city in Thailand.
Praise the Lord, we are already seeing results! The number of unreached villages as of Oct 2025, has fallen to 88.14%. We are filled with faith to see that this number will drop even faster in the years to come! As this number drops, we will see the spread of the Gospel gain even more momentum.
May Jesus richly bless you as you spread the Good News to all of Thailand.

When Jesus first mentions the "church" in Matthew 16:13-16, He uses the Greek word ekklesia, which simply means "a gathering of people."
Jesus doesn't describe a building, a specific meeting time, or a formal program. He simply says the church is a gathering of people, built on Him, that the "Gates of Hell" will not defeat. Therefore, a church is not about the property but about the people who love Jesus and come together to worship Him, even if it's just "2-3 gathered together" in His name.
Since every denomination has a different view, the TEC has used the following practical definition of a church for the past 15 years:
A group of 3 or more believers in Jesus who come together and worship Him on a regular basis, and are not a cell group of an existing church.
In Thailand, all major church affiliations (TBC, CCT, EFT, AFT, etc.) have specific standards that a church must meet to be considered "fully registered."
This creates two categories of churches:
Registered Church: A church that satisfies all the official definitions and requirements of its affiliation.
Unregistered Church: A church that is known to the affiliation but is still in a developing stage. It has not yet met one or more of the official requirements, which might include rules about leadership (lacking a pastor), size (not enough members), or location (no permanent building).
The specific rules for what makes a church "registered" versus "unregistered" differ depending on the affiliation.
We categorize all churches on this site as either "registered" or "unregistered" based entirely on how their own affiliation has officially classified them.
Churches that are not part of an affiliation or "Unaffiliated Churches" are all classified as "Unregistered"
What is a "Public" church? "Public" churches are those whose locations are publicly available. You will find them shown location map and listed in the Harvest directories.
What is a "Private" church? "Private" churches are churches that, for various reasons, have requested their locations and information not be shown on the website.
Are "Private" churches included in the statistics? Yes. Although their locations are hidden, their numbers are included in all our statistics, such as total church counts and attendance numbers.
Why would a church be "Private"? A church may request privacy for many reasons, including security concerns, being in a sensitive area, or a church that rotates between different locations. We verify that the church exists before adding it to the Harvest database, but we hide its location to honor the request of the church or its denomination.
The Home page has two main functions to help your ministry:
Church Search: You can easily search for a specific church by its name or find all churches in a particular location. Harvest will instantly direct you to the results that fit your criteria.
Strategic Gospel Dashboard: This tool shows you where the Gospel has and has not reached, right down to the village level. You can see the full picture of Thailand or zoom in to any province, district, or sub-district. This feature is essential for strategically planning your church planting, helping you focus your efforts on the areas that are truly void of the Gospel.
What the Map Shows The Church Locations map displays all "Public" churches in the database.
How to Search for a Church You can find churches in various locations across Thailand using three methods:
Search: Use the "All locations" search box to type in a name.
A note on searching: When using the "All locations" search box, you must spell the location accurately to get a result.
Filters: Use the drop-down filters to find a church by church affiliation, denomination and language
Manual Zooming: You can also click directly on the map and zoom down, one level at a time, to explore a specific location.
When you locate a church, you can click on it to view its details. If you are an official or member of that church and notice any errors (like an incorrect location or outdated attendance), you are able to submit corrections. To ensure accuracy, you don't need to worry about false data being posted. The eSTAR Foundation verifies all submitted changes before they are committed to the database.
To understand Thailand's spiritual landscape, use this map to locate areas based on their Christian presence—whether they have an established presence, none at all, or a very small one. You can search by province, district, and sub-district to see key data for that specific area.
To navigate, click a province and then select the "View District" or "View Sub-district" button to zoom in. For a faster search, you can also type the area's name directly into the "All Areas" search box (please ensure the spelling is correct).
Add a Missing Church: Can't find a church? Click the "Add Church" link to submit its details to the Harvest database. We prefer pastors or church leaders to submit this form. Public submissions are also welcome, but will be verified by our staff for accuracy before being published.
Update an Existing Church: If a church has moved, changed, or closed, please find its listing and click the "Update Church" button to report the new information.
Use this link for a comprehensive overview of the status of Christianity in all of Thailand. This display provides detailed information across every denomination, organization, region, and district. You can also filter the view by organization, church type, language of worship, or province.
The eSTAR Foundation is excited to offer the Harvest Church as a free tool to help you in your ministry.
This church database is just one part of our wider mission. We also equip the Thai church with hundreds of Christian books from our bookstore and provide powerful Print On Demand services. The revenue from these services is what helps us to provide the Harvest Database for free to everyone.
When you purchase a book from us, you're not just getting a great resource—you're investing in this data ministry. We hope you'll visit our website to see all the tools and services eSTAR provides!
Please only upload a photo of the front of the church or that clearly shows the church name. Photos containing the congregation, individuals, or unrelated objects will not be accepted.
Please take and upload photos with location services enabled. This allows the system to automatically validate the church's precise GPS position.
